Questions About Family Support Services:



Who qualifies for family support services?
A child or adult with a developmental disability (children should have aged out of Early Intervention). This service is designed to support a disabled person in their home, living with family members.

What happens if my child does not have Medicaid?
If your income is to high, the child can qualify for the “ Waiver Medicaid”. This form of Medicaid applies to children with a diagnosed disability. The income of the parent will be “waived".The process involves a good amount of paper work but the Family Support Coordinator will guide the family through the process and submit the application with OMRDD.

Who gets Family Support Services?
A person with a disability who is in the process of applying for Medicaid.

What other services can I get while I receive Family Support?
Certain In-home services, Family Reimbursement, some behavior management. The services are usually provided through different agencies and funding is limited. Most services require Medicaid eligibility and are available once the family member has Medicaid Service Coordination.

Who qualifies for medical services coordination?
A disabled person with Medicaid.

What is a Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC)?
A Medicaid Service Coordinator connects your family member with needed services. The MSC conducts monthly home and school visits and coordinates needed services. A MSC is your correspondent with other agencies and finds out who offers what for your child. The MSC also advocates for your child to ensure his best interest (usually at school. Parents should communicate with their child's MSC to ensure the right Medicaid coverage is maintained.


Questions About At-Home Residential Habilitation:



Who can receive At Home Residential Habilitation?
In order to receive this service, the family must have a Medicaid Service Coordinator.At-Home Residential Habilitation provides the disabled person with skills training at their home. Staff members follow a plan or schedule and work on a variety of independent living skills. One caretaker has to be present during service hours. At-Home Residential Habilitation builds on enhancing the consumers' independence. This service is different from a Home Attendant or Home Health Aid.
